Privacy Policy

The short version

Spiel does not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. Period. Your scripts, recordings, and settings stay on your Mac and never leave it.

What data we collect

None. Spiel operates entirely offline. We do not collect:

  • Personal information (name, email, etc.)
  • Usage analytics or telemetry
  • Script content or recordings
  • Device identifiers or IP addresses
  • Crash reports (unless you manually send them)

Local data storage

Spiel stores the following data locally on your Mac:

  • Scripts — saved in your user application data folder
  • Recordings — saved to your Downloads folder (or a folder you choose)
  • Preferences — font, speed, window size, and other settings
  • License key — stored locally to validate your purchase

This data is never uploaded, synced, or shared with any server.

Voice-activated scrolling

Spiel's voice scroll feature uses the Web Audio API to detect audio volume from your microphone. It does not perform speech recognition, transcription, or any form of audio recording for this feature. Audio data is processed locally in real-time and immediately discarded. No audio is stored or transmitted.

Microphone and camera access

Spiel requests microphone and camera access only when you use the recording features or voice-activated scrolling. These permissions are managed by macOS and can be revoked at any time in System Settings > Privacy & Security.

Screen recording

When you use Spiel's screen recording feature, the captured video is saved directly to your Mac. No screen content is transmitted or stored externally.

Payment processing

Purchases are processed through our payment provider. We do not store your credit card information. The payment provider may collect information necessary to process your transaction in accordance with their own privacy policy.

Third-party services

The Spiel desktop application does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Website

The getspiel.com website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) as part of their hosting service. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising. See Vercel's privacy policy for details.

Children's privacy

Spiel does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Since the app collects no data at all, this is inherently the case.

Changes to this policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Since Spiel collects no data, significant changes are unlikely.
